I have the most wonderful dog in the world who just happens to be reactive (a Belgian tervuren, Cache). I worked with Darby over many years on positive reinforcement training and how to be the best person for my dog. She helped me work through some very emotional situations. I had a lot of fear in the beginning and Darby really helped me gain confidence to give Cache the best life possible.

My grandfathers dog was taken from him by the city he lived in because of a reactivity issue. My grandfather passed away 10 days later (without reuniting with his dog). This is obviously devastating. So my fear of peoples reaction to my dog was almost unbearable. Darby helped me gain the confidence with handling Cache to know something like what happened to my grandfather and his dog wouldn’t happen to me and Cache.

I would often worry I wasn’t doing enough for Cache, but Darby helped me not only find enough resources for Cache but also to feel confident in what I was doing for him. I really would recommend Darby for any animal behavior work (or really any work with animals period) or any human/animal training work.

I wanted to take the opportunity to commend Darby not only for her incredible skill with training dogs, but also for her natural ability to work with new dog owners. As a satisfied client, I can attest to her talent and expertise at helping me understand how to get myself and my new puppy started off on the path to success.

I have known Darby for quite some time and she has always had a talent for working with dogs. Over the years, I have occasionally sought her out for advice on dog ownership leading up to getting my first dog. Every one of these interactions, she was sure to focus on the details and characteristics of myself as a potential dog owner to guide me in the right direction so I did not get in over my head with a dog that I could not handle.

Darby had very well planned lessons for every course so that we continued to make steady progress without going too fast for us. We had short training and demonstration sessions with our puppies during the courses so we could try new things on the fly combined with portions where she spent time instructing owners directly and giving us homework assignments. Darby taught us all of the essentials that I expected and more. She even created a Facebook group through which we could share progress between sessions with her and our fellow classmates, ask Darby questions which she would promptly answer, and was kept open following the courses so that we could continue sharing progress and asking questions.

She is a natural at teaching new dog owners. Darby’s level of service, skill, commitment, and passion for teaching new dog owners and their dogs is incredible. I have recommended her to other people who are looking for help training their dogs, and will wholeheartedly continue to do so.
